need a light?

thursday thunder
yep
that's today
and i know exactly what's to blame for the sudden change in the weather...see it's been really hot the last few days, i mean 30+ which as you'll all know is hot for the UK
well yesterday i ventured to work wearing *gulp* shorts...yes that's right, i actually subjected people to my bare naked legs and knobbly knees!
and you know what...when i got to work yesterday morning the weather wasn't looking so good, and as i put the key in the door to open up i heard the first crack of thunder. within 15 minutes the true british summer was upon us with big rain clouds and dark skies...all because i was in shorts!
unfortunately it stayed muggy and sticky all day...but without the sun to make things ok, it was just horrible weather.
last night/early this morning i was woke up by the thunder which sounded like it was right above my head...this was about 5am...it went on until just after 7, when i normally get up, so i'm so tired now that it's not fun...but anyway i digress! thunder and lightening this morning was great. today the weather is still grey, but the heat and everything like that has gone with it...today it's bearable!
besides i love a good thunderstorm :)
if it'd been yesterday evening i'd have been out in it walking around and enjoying the cleansing sensation, but at 5 this morning i was just miffed that it'd woken me up and all i wanted to do was sit and watch it running down the window above the bed...i couldn't really do much else as i was naked and too tired to move
anyway, when i get to work this morning i find we'd had a powercut at some point overnight, this normally isn't an issue, but spanish had set up a couple of 3D renders to be done over night, one was due to take about 15 hours, so over night was the best time to set it to go...but he lost the whole thing and is having to re-do it all again this morning. so imagine how pissed off he was when he just set the 3 computers to go on 3 more renders when we lost the power again... it was out for about 2 hours this morning...which wasn't too bad, we just sat around chatting, i read some more of my book and played boxes against spanish (i won quite decisively)

can anyone recommend anything that will help me sleep and stop me snoring? i'm having issues with both at the moment
laters peeps

  1. What is a render?

Your doc may be able to prescribe some meds for the snoring/sleepy problem. If you don't want to do that, I've take NyQuil or Gravol every now and again when i have trouble sleeping. Knocks me right out. Certainly not a long term solution, but it does the trick once in a while.

  2. a render is where you put the finishing touches to a CAD, like covering the walls and adding the textures to the bits in the drawings

my doc is reluctant to prescribe sleeping pills...not that i'd take them to be honest, i'm not a fan of taking pills too often

  3. I know exactly what you're talking about with the renderings. I think the programs have improved though, our 3D guy seems to be able to whip them off faster than in the past. We've done the overnight thing though.

    I love thunderstorms too.

Where do you work? What do you do?

renders are no fun at all...but i don't have to do them, i just have to deal with sales people who think that they have THE most important project in the whole world, even though it's only worth 10k and the other one i've got is worth 250k...stupid people

    berly...

  19. Those "Breathe Right" strips for your nose are supposed to open up your airway and help stop the snoring.

I love a good thunderstorm too! It's so relaxing...unless you're driving in it or the lightening gets too close.
