People make me laugh
there has been an abundance of swearing in the office the last couple of days, from everyone, i think the only person i've not hear utter an obsenity has been the boss, but seeing as i lack the knowledge to understand german, i wouldn't be surprised if he has swore and i've just not heard him...
but everyone's at it, from the secretary all the way up
sometimes it's a minor obsenity, i.e. bloody, bugger, crap and the like, other times it's a bit more, i.e. fuck, shit etc. yesterday the photocopier took a bit of a verbal battering from the secretary
chunk usually swears down the phone at people he knows
spanish usually mutters it under his breath
i've been cursing the architects of the project i'm on and various others have joined me in that, including the saleswoman who wants the quote and spiderman who's trying to help me with it...
anyway, it's keeping me entertained trying to work out who's next to swear...and why

bizarre bits & pieces
ok i've not blogged for just over a week, so i thought i'd better update something before someone moans, either DK or chunk...
right the last week has been pretty uneventful i think, i certainly don't remember much happening anyway...well nothing exciting anyway
finally got round to seeing pidge on friday evening while she was at work, it's been the first time i've seen her in nearly a year, so that was cool to see her for a little while, even if she did hurt my chest when she gave me a hug...women! tut tut!
baby chunk is off this week, she's heading to cyprus with her new job for a couple of months, i know chunk'll miss her, i know i will to, she was one of the few people at the abbey i really considered a proper friend. but i know she'll enjoy her new job and i think it'll sui her down to the ground, hopefully!
Luton lass is off this week as well, but only on holiday, she's off to spain for a week later today, she'd beter send me a postcard at least or there will be real trouble!
had an email today from my german mental, she said she's getting married on friday, which is cool...she's having tomorrow and thursday off to get everything ready, getting hitched on friday, then back in work on monday!!! told you she was mental!
nothing much else has happened the last few days though.
work is going pretty well at the moment, we had a meeting due at 8am this morning and i would've made it with time to spare, but luton stopped over last night and was still in bed when i wanted to leave, i was going to leave her there, it would've been ok, but she said she'd get up, so i left 20 minutes late, got to work at 8.10 and had to walk in to the meeting late, everyone started laughing at me too :o( the rest of the work type thing is ok though, just finishing off a quote today for the uni of warwick and then starting a big one for uni in dublin...so i'm fairly busy at the moment :o)
still trying to sort out a few things to do with my car, but the new one's running fine. if anyone knows anyone who wants to buy a car stereo and multi-changer i've got one on the go for £150, it's missing the multi-changer lead though, but it should be worth around £300+ so it's a bit of a bargain...get in touch with me for more details...
well i'd better get back to it, lunch is about half over and i've not stopped to eat yet...anyway just a little something to make everyone chuckle...i'm glad i didn't use these when i got caught!
These extravagant excuses for speeding include alien hypnosis, low-flying aircraft, a dying hamster and bouts of diarrhoea. Here is the top 10:
1) I had passed out after seeing flashing lights, which I believed to be UFOs in the distance. The flash of the camera brought me round from my trance.
2) I was in the airport's flight path and I believe the camera was triggered by a jet overhead, not my car.
3) I had a severe bout of diarrhoea and had to speed to a public toilet.
4) There was a strong wind behind my car, which pushed me over the limit.
5) My friend had just chopped his fingers off and I was rushing the fingers to hospital.
6) The vibrations from the surfboard I had on the roof rack set off the camera.
7) I had to rush my dying hamster to the vets.
8) A violent sneeze caused a chain reaction where my foot pushed down harder on the accelerator.
9) There was a suspected case of foot and mouth and I had to rush to see the cow concerned.
10) The only way I could demonstrate my faulty clutch was to accelerate madly.

there's a spider in the bathroom and it's only got 7 legs...
it looks like it's surviving ok though, but im not sure how many flies are in the toilet at work though becasue i've never seen any go in, apart from the ones on the front of my trousers...
my chest is still really hurting, and it feels like it's getting worse, same with my ankle. i keep turning my ankle when i'm walking along and it hurts, and i keep sneezing or having to blow my nose, which is hurting my chest too...
i'm practically alone in the office again now, it's lunch time and everyone else had buggered off, i don't really blame them either
the car is running well, and it's really nice to have air/con, although i put the cd's in the magazine the wrong way round the first time and felt a bit silly, thankfully there was only me in the car at the time so it was ok. really need to see about putting in m y 6x9's in the back as the sound output at the moment it a little less than desired and the bass is muffled, so i need to sort that out soon, maybe this weekend if i can get hold of some leads and that.
i'm tired, fed-up and bored...

right then...NIN
not being the biggest Nine Inch Nails fan in the world, when i was asked if i wanted to go and see them i said yeah, of course i said yeah, i meanwho's going to turn down a chance to see one of the most influencial and well known bands of the last decade?
and i really enjoyed it
i wasn't sure it was going to be the best idea to go considering my recent injury, but i decided to go anyway, i was still intwo minds even at the station waiting for the train though...and in true Luton lass style we arrivedabout 2 hours late for the doors, but we were never going to make it for 7 anyway, but we missed SAUL WILLIAMS, whoever the fuck he is, i've heard some of his stuff from when i was in germany because french played it a lot, but i never really found much out about him, and i don't think we really missed much anyway.
by the time we got there NIN were already on stage and about 15 minutes into their set, which was fine beause they played for another 90 minutes anyway.
ok
now i know that NIN is basically TRENT REZNOR in a studio playing everything himself either live or via a synthesiser type thing, and a touring band when he wants to hit the road, and i'm cool with that, but it became oh so obvious that it was all about him on tour as well when you stand at the back of brixton and either side of the stage is flanked by 40ft shadows of the bloke because there are 2 strategically placed spotlights either side of his mic and none really on the rest of the band, well not in the same way anyway. but that didn't detract from the awesome some that they put on.
the guitarist was mental, it's always good to see somone running around stage like a lunatic. even if everyone on stage looked the same...in black clothing an with black hair...he even took some of the emphasis off of mr reznor! (shockingly)
must say though that the light show going on around the band and at the back of the stage was very cool, lots of colour, red, blue and green (yeah i know these are the scientific prime colours)
anyway the gig was wicked though, they played the last single, the hand that feeds, and the played the other two big songs, head like a hole and fuck you like an animal, and a couple of other songs that i half recognised, but i've no idea what they were...
some of the songs were too bass heavy, and the vibrations hurt my chest, not sure wh, i'm sure there's someone out there who can give a medical reason as to why bass-y songs hurt when you've got a cracked sternum, or probably ribs for that matter, but anyway they do hurt, and it wasn't comfortable, even though the song was awesome
would've gone to the front it i'd not got a cracked sternum too, but there wasn't really anyone crowd-surfing, bit of a disappointment, that's the sort of thing i'd do given the chance
anyway, that's all there is to say about the gig i guess...

silver it is then...
i am now the "proud" owner of a peugeot 206 1.4 glx in silver
it's all good
it's the one i was going to look at on tuesday evening, i put £100 down there and then and settled up when i went to collect it last night
it looks nice and runs well and so i'm happy, even if the doors are huge and it's a bit of a come down from the 2.0l turbo that i had before...
anyway i'm not worried
went to the dr's about my ankle the other day, he said not to worry about it too much, it's probably a little internal bruising and should be ok in a couple of weeks, if not im to go back again then. the chest is a little painful...only when i laugh/sneeze/breathe in/cough/breathe out/stretch that type of thing, but it feels better than it did, it comes and goes though
went to see NIN the other night too...was very cool, although the bass evel was that loud that i could feel the vibrations in my trousers and it had my chest hurt...it's a shame i didn't recognise more of the tunes, will blog more about the gig when i've got more time though

the silver lining
just heard back from the engineers who are looking at my car and they've told me that they are going ot give me a decent amount for my car, they've said that they will offer £1715 for it and considering i though it was £1000 at most, it's made me a little happier about things...
went to have a look at a couple of cars last night, but they were all too much, but now they are a little less because i have some more cash available :) hoping to go and have a look at a couple more tonight, looking at a focus and a 206 if the bloke calls me back...fingers crossed!

details
so i crashed my car
big deal
it's been written off
bigger deal
need a new car
your chance to vote now, what should i get, at the moment i'm thinking 206 or focus or if i'm being really silly a toyota hi-lux, but i'm open to all suggestions providing they are sensible and affordable, so either leave me a message or mail me what you think i should be getting!
anyway, people keep asking me what happened so i'm going to try and tell you, but i can't actually remember hitting the van, only the bits before and after...here goes!
i was driving on the A418 from thame to aylesbury, the plan being to get to luton, to see luton lass, sat happily behind a line of traffic, doing between 50 and 60, we all started to brake for a corner, nothing major there. after turning the corner, the line of traffic all braked suddenly as on the other side of the road was a similar line of traffic all pretty much stationary with an ambulance whizzing past them with it's lights on. in braking heavily i managed to lock the front wheel sof my, now defunct, rover and skidded it into the back of a 51 plate mercedes van...D'OH!!! i remember thinking that i needed to take my foot off the brake to stop the skid, but then next thing i remember is seeing the van about 5m in front of me, with the driver out of his car and jogging towards me to check i was ok...nice chap actually, he spoke to my dad as well to try and tell him where i was and all that. i called luton lass to tell her i wasn't going to make it and that i had had a crash and i didn't really know where i was so she shouldn't try to find me, at least that what she said i said... i called my dad after and all i remember him asking is where was i, and i didn't know so i started shouting down the phone at him. bearing in mind all this time someone had called an ambulance and told me that i wasn't allowed to move until they got there, just in case like. when they got there they put a collar on me and checked a few things, they asked me if i thought i could walk, i said yes so they were going to get me to walk to the back of the ambulance and get on the stretcher and spinal board there, but when it came to standing up, i just couldn't do it, i had gone into shock and my legs were shaking that much that i managed about 3 feet before they told me to turn around and they would strap me to the bored standing...a weird sensation falling backwards without being able to crumple or put anything out to support myself i'll tell you! anyway they stuck me in the back on the ambulance eventually and hooked me up to a few things to measure my pulse and blood pressure. chunk arrived on the scene a little after i got into the ambulance, i'd sent him a message knowing he'd be the nearest person i could get hold of, it's funny, he's now met both my folks and on both occasions it's been because i've been to the hospital with him!!! anyway the copper came in and did a breath test on me while i was laying down...it was obviously clear as i'd not had a drink for a few days, but they've got to do these things.
in the hospital they eventually took me off the spinal board and told me that they were going to give me some pain relief, an injected pain relief, well those of you that know me know i go a bit loopy around injections and i don't have them unless i really need them, so i refused it! i had a load of x-rays done, of my neck and back and chest and hips and all that type of stuff. it turns ou that the pain in my chect was from a cracked sternum, but other than that there was nothing else wrong with me, yet they did insist on keeping me wired up to an ECG monitor for a while, which didn't work because the sticky things kept falling off because i'm so damned hairy! eventually i got told i could go home though so it was ok. i'd asked chunk to try and call luton lass because i wanted her to know i was ok, but my phone was dead so he had to get it off directory enquiries, but she wasn't in...it wasn't until i called my mum on the way home that i found out that she had been there and was on her way to the hospital to see me, part of me is glad she didn't find me because i know she'd have wanted to stay and she was supposed to be at work, bigger part of me was relieved to know that she was ok and looking for me. apparently she missed me at the hospital by about 15 minutes, don't you just hate that! she also told me that chunk sounded very professional when he called her...lol if only she knew!
now though i'm feeling pretty good, back ache has all but gone, as has the neck ache, chest still hurts when i forget about it and do something like twist around or stretch too far...only real concern now is my dodgy ankle, the one with the metalwork in it...since firday it's been really sore and it's starting to cause me pain to walk on it, tihnk i probably jarred it i the accident, but it's taken a while for the bruising to come out or whatever, but then i'm not a doctor and i don't really know, think if it's still sore tomorrow i might see if i can make a doctors appointment to get some pain killers for it...we'll see
well since then i've been taking it easy, today's been my first day back at work and it's not too bad, there's only me, spanish and the fall guy in the office today, everyone else was either in germany or having a day off and enjoying the weather...but apparently those in germany had rain :o)
thanks to everyone who's been in touch to check how i am, it means a lot to know that there are some idiots out there who a) waste their time reading this, and b) care about me...
anyway, best get off now, take care peeps and remember to get in touch with what you think my next car should be

britian, britian, britian...
enough
germany was ok
but i'm back now
the lovely luton lass met me at the airport and gave me a much needed cuddle, i missed her, we spent most of ther weekend together too, which was good, it helped me chill out after being stuck in a foreign country with two other people who spoke english, but not as their first language, so it was great to have someone to spend the weekend with...so thank you baby
started work today
i was pretty boring because there wasn't very much we could do and both of us new guys needed help and kept asking "the fall guy" what we need to do and all that, and he's busy as well so it's getting difficult
anyway
don't really know what else to say at the moment
got my car sorted today, was expensive, but i didn't pay for it, had a new starter motor fitted, can you believe that for all the time that i was away the car started first time every time...and within two days of getting back it takes me 20 minutes to get it started, and it only starts the once...how bad is that?
anyway i'm going now
i've had enough tonight and i want to go to bed
take care peeps

but i'm back now
the lovely luton lass met me at the airport and gave me a much needed cuddle, i missed her, we spent most of ther weekend together too, which was good, it helped me chill out after being stuck in a foreign country with two other people who spoke english, but not as their first language, so it was great to have someone to spend the weekend with...so thank you baby
started work today
i was pretty boring because there wasn't very much we could do and both of us new guys needed help and kept asking "the fall guy" what we need to do and all that, and he's busy as well so it's getting difficult
anyway
don't really know what else to say at the moment
got my car sorted today, was expensive, but i didn't pay for it, had a new starter motor fitted, can you believe that for all the time that i was away the car started first time every time...and within two days of getting back it takes me 20 minutes to get it started, and it only starts the once...how bad is that?
anyway i'm going now
i've had enough tonight and i want to go to bed
take care peeps
laters
