if i've had a good meal, i'll tip, usually around the 10% mark, sometimes more, sometimes less though, depends on how good it was and how much it was
2. What celebrity did you have a crush on growing up?
currently have a crush on kate beckinsale, although i used to have a big thing for kate winslet, that was about 10 years ago
3. Do you excuse yourself to “fart” or let it rip and blame the guy next to you?
depends on the company, normally i'll just let rip and then say pardon after if its audible anyway, if it's a silent one i don't say a word ;o)
4. When entering or exiting a store, do you hold the door open for the person behind you, if they're relatively close… if they're more than 10 steps away do you pause and hold the door open?
depends on what mood i'm in a guess, if i'm busy shopping, in my own world or in a rush, then i'll hold it for a bit, if i'm in a good mood or the person behind me looks nice then i'll hold it. I'll always hold it for pushchairs and elderly people though
5. Ever had mono?
what's mono? i'm guessing i've never had it EDIT: mono=glandular fever, now some of you might know that i've had a few female friends in my time and some of them have had the kissing disease, but i've never got it, so i think i've got some kind of immunity from it, possibly making me a carrier(?)

by paid for i'm guessing you mean gone to a hooker or similar...no
i only question it because some people consider it paying for sex if you take someone out and pay for dinner, a nice evening and all that stuff just to get sex of the person you're with (i haven't done this either)

my dongle HNT
Ok it's a bit of a twofer today...as some of you know i moved recently and in moving i have "misplaced" the cables for my camera...along with the camera!
but basically, because of this little baby (my new bluetooth dongle) i can now send pictures i take on my phone to my computer and post that way

as hinted in the above HNT post i've had some news about the interviews from last week
i actually had this news at the end of last week and chose not to share it with you guys then for my own personal reasons...however now i can reveal all
I got the fucking job!!!
how cool is that
i'm going to be the new operational support manager for david lloyd fitness in cowley. the money is more than i'm on now, the work is basicaly what i was doing when i was in the sport centre 18 months ago and well it rocks!
and to top it all off i get £1500 worth of free membership!
i handed in my notice as soon as i found out, but i've not told anyone else in the office as the boss has been away and today's his first day back in the office...from today i'll be telling people that i want to tell though

i met linny and her friend cathy last night
it was awesome
we had a really good time and a laugh and it was so cool to finally meet her!
i took them to a couple of the local pubs in oxford (the hobgoblin in carfax and the turf tavern) and we sat and chatted and had a drink and it was so relaxed and fun
bloggers meets is up by one, shame i'm not going to get the chance to meet FU when he's in london really...

whales and dolphins? no owls and peacocks!
last night when i toddled off to my bed...all i could hear was a bloody owl sitting outside my window, it wasn't cool!
then this morning, this morning the bloody peacock (yeah for some reason there are wild peacocks in our village) the bloody peacock was on the drive honking at me!
christmas is going to be good this year, although i'm not sure i'll fit the peacock in the oven!

HNT interview style
Ok so i'm going to a few interviews at the moment and so i thought i'd post a quick pic of what i've been wearing to them (although this pic is nearly 6 months old now)i was wearing contacts in this pic, i've not worn them since though, my eye's just haven't taken to them very well at all, so i've just not worn them, which is probably why my eye's haven't taken to them

the blue shirt and silver tie have become staple for my interviews at the moment (mainly because it's the only stuff i can find)

anyway, tuesday night, we (me and woja) went to see hayseed dixie
and fuck me it was awesome!
they're the band that i was talking about a while ago, they do country/bluegrass versions of rock classics, the first album they did was all AC/DC covers (hence the name hayseed dixie say it quickly a few times, you'll get it in the end)
they played loads of classic rock tunes, and threw in a few newer ones too...like greenday's holiday. and it was just amazing to watch! there was a guy on the banjo who was wicked bad, so good was he that woja decided there and then that he wants to learn to play himself. there was a guy on a mandolin (i think it was a mandolin anyway) and his hand was strumming so fast that at times it was just a blur! the bassist was huge...and looked to have modelled himself on james hetfield a little...he had some mean ass looking lambchop sideburns going on too!
they were filming for some reason too...i'm not complaining, it was cool!
and during the encore, the pulled frank skinner out from the back to play banjo with them on duelling banjos (that's such a familiar tune that i'm not going to go into it) and although he wasn't brilliant and in no way could he keep up with the band when they were in full swing, he gave it a good shot!!
it was really cool!
we had a blast
and they rocked us all night long! with a (nearly) 2 hour set and no warm-up/support act!!
and it was funny as hell watching these guys do the classic rock poses and things like that, including "shooting" the crowd with the acoustic bass and having the guy on the banjo and the guy on the mandolin do weird things that if i try to explain i'll just end up confusing people (maybe woja will leave a comment explaining the banjo test)

it's been a while
well, a little over a week, but it doesn't matter
what does matter is that i've moved and took all last week off to do it
(although secretly i could've been on the run with rawbean)
anyway i was away because of moving
but now, now i'm back :D
i intend fully to post a hnt again this week (think i uploaded some pictures the other week)
i intend fully to get a phone line and subsequently broadband to the flat too...but that might take a little while (about 2 weeks maybe 3)

a return to HNT
it's taken a while for me to get back into this, but i'm giving you a quiet night at work (taken 2 or 3 weeks ago)
on the left we have yousef, who i'd not seen for about 8 years, eve's in the middle, who i'd not seen since about christmas, and the that'd be me stuffed on the end

showering in sainsbury's
right i was reminded about this while i was over at rawbean's page posting that mammoth comment...
well the other day when i went to pick up errol's vivarium i was having a bit of a road trip with litlum giving my lovely lady a break and a change for her to destress and tidy up. we got about 3/4 of the way there and were making very good time, but i needed to pee and i needed to get a birthday card for my sister. as fortune would have it i spied a sainsburys superstore coming up and knowing that i'd be able to kill two birds with one stone i pulled in and unstrapped litlun for a quick wander around the shop with me. bless her, she's not quite 2 yet and know what sainsbury's is, she was trying to carry the shopping basket for me as well :)
anyway i got my sister a tasteful card, paid for it and asked the nice lady where the loo was. i found it was being cleaned, but that never bothers me, if i need to pee, then i have to pee, regardless of who else is there. i plopped litlun down by the sinks so that i could still keep an eye on her from the urinal, but at the same time i would have a little privacy from her. anyway i'm peeing when all of a sudden she pipes up with "shower" and is intently looking at me peeing, exclaiming "shower, shower!" to which i had to say "no, wee wee"...but she'd already walked over and was having a good look...
thankfully the only other person in there was the vleaner and he'd got his i-pod on so i don't think he heard our conversation...
i had to call her mum up and we had a good laugh about it, but if there had been anyone else in there i would've died with embaressment, especially if she'd gone up to them saying the same thing...
anyway, i'm planning a return to HNT tomorrow, although it's nothing too risquè i think, i can't remember what i've uploaded at the moment.
STILL working on the PX100 still only up to 50 i think, work keeps getting in the way!
thinned out the link bar, got rid of the who's commented hack as it didn't seem to be working properly :( got rid of a few people's links as they've not posted for a few months or over a year in someone's case...(left berly's on there for the time being though)
keep meaning to take a pic to show just how accurate that avatar really is...one day i will

i've not done anything yet today at work either because i'm waiting on special prices from the german office for 3 quotes and i've been told not to expect them until the end of the week
think i'm going to ikea tonight...not sure yet though, could do with getting one or two things for the new place, nothing major though as we've got double of the essential things

blog birthday
dammit!!!
after reading natalia's post about her 150th post and it being nearly her bloggerversary i thought...hang on, mine's around now...and i missed it by 11 days :(

i mean it's only tuesday and i'm blogging already??!!
anyway
i've got reason to blog
i'm fed up with work...but that's ok because i'm seeking a new job as we speak...and yes i am at work at the moment too!
i've developed a chest thing...it's feeling quite tight and wheezy in the mornings, and accompanied by a nasty tickly/dry cough
i'm selling the beast, i know i've not had it 2 weeks yet, but the damned thing isn't good, it's a lot lower on the fuel economy than i was told it would be, it's all in Km/H which is confusing and it still smells inside, even though i've been trucking around with the windows open. i'll miss it though, it's great fun to drive and it's an awesome beast too...but i just can't afford to keep running it at the moment, which is a huge great big shame
i'm buying a pet snake, i'm getting a boa called errol (my choice of name) just got the vivarium already, going to stick it into storage after picking it up and then when we've moved i'll be setting it all up and getting it ready for the impending new arrival
on the subject of moving, i'm getting really excited, i can't wait to move into the new place, it's going to be great :D
went swimming again on friday (that's 2 weeks in a row now) in an attempt to tone up/lose the belly...only did 20 lengths (500m) but it also only took me about 8 minutes to do it all, the week before i did 30 in about 15 minutes...i'm working up to 40 in 15 minutes...but we shall see, it'll probably be 40 in 25 minutes to start with (including stretching and all that)
did the wedding disco on saturday night and althoguh it started really slow and got worse when the "happy couple" asked for techno...yeah techno and wedding aniversaries don't go when at least half the people in the room are 40+...anyway i stuck on some dance/club music and got a few people dancing, but it wasn't until someone asked for sister sledge and we are family that people really started dancing...techno my arse...so i continued with the disco/funk until it got to the end of the night and was time to go home...easiest £80 i've ever earned...although i'm paying a bloke who helped out £30 of that...stil £50 for 5 hours work and i didn't really have to do anything at all wasn't bad!
right i guess i should get back to the filing that's been building up on my desk for a few months...laters peeps

friday funtime
ok i can't believe it's been a week since i last blogged
i'm getting really bad at this ain't i?
that's a rhetorical question before any of you start to answer that! (and no i didn't use the spell checker on rhetorical :oP)
i've been driving around in the beast for the last week, which is why i've been a bit on the quiet side of things, you know how it is, you look for pretty much any excuse to drive when you're got new wheels ;)
it's awesome
although it's a little gay because it's an automatic and i'm used to manual gearbox, but it's all good
i found the diff lock for the 4WD the other day, i've not had a chance to have a play off-road yet, but trust me i'm going to soon :D
made the big error of running it dry the other day, i thought i had enough to get to the petrol station, turns out i was almost right...but not quite, i broke down about 100m from the garage forecourt and had to be pushed the remainder of the way lol...yes i got pushed and didn't do the pushing, i might be stupid for not filling up sooner, but i'm not stupid enough to push the bloody thing! but thanks to my bro and some friends of a friend and not the police, even though they pulled over and asked if everything was ok (it obviously wasn't)...i got the beast to the forecourt and filled her up with £60 worth of diesil (think it could've taken more though)
still she's running nicely now and i know not to believe the fuel gauge when it says it's got between none and 1/4 of a tank left...
other stuff;
i've got my first wedding anniversary thing to DJ tomorrow (at £80 for the night it can't be sniffed at right...especially as it's music i like too) looking forward to it, and i'm feeling more comfortable doing this than i was hosting the quiz...not sure why, but hey...who cares!
been looking online for a vivarium set up (or even some plans to make one myself...yes i can do DIY...just not very well!) FYI the vivarium is for the pending family member Errol...Errol will be a boa constrictor snake, male hopefully as they only get to 8ft in length, females can get to 12 ft...and she'd probably get a complex from being called Errol all the time!
moving in just over 2 weeks, we're looking forward to it, just not looking forward to having to sort through all our shit and get rid of the stuff we've doubled up on or that's too old/too manky/just plain nasty...and believe me we'll have stuff from all them catagories!!
not managed to sell the little pug yet, holding on to it for a little while, no idea why though, but i know that at some point i'll want to get the stereo out of it and put it into the beast! (might do that the week we move as i've got the week off that week)
been applying for a few jobs again, i'm tired and bored of this one, i feel it's time for a change again and so i'm looking at various things at the moment. applied for 2 yesterday and sent my CV off to another one today, hoping to hear back from at least one of these positions, this time if i'm offered the job though i'm going to take it...well probably. applied for one the other day which offered a fully expensed car...nice deal except i've just been and got a new one myself...still doubt i'll get that one anyway so it doesn't matter!
spanish has been out of the office all week this week, it's been busy without him, most irritating thing is that the sales team seem to think that they all have priority over each other and as such seem to think that's it's ok that they can jump the queue all the time
last night it was busy in the pub, but a couple of friends came in and that was cool, one i've not seen since easter, one i've not seen since christmas and one i've not seen since school (or there abouts) it was good to see the 3 of them, just a shame that i couldn't sit with them more and have a decent chat and catch up. i managed some time with them though because the landlord went out earlier in the evening (while it was manic), so when he came back i went out for a little while and chatted to them while i ate something
right well i guess that was the week that was...so here's a song for the weekend:

right business...
hospital appointment went fine
the nice lady looked at my beer belly and using that ultrasound doofy-wotsit looking inside my gut too...and you know what i said yesterday about her not finding anything and that being the worst option for me...well she didn't find anything wrong, no gall stones and nothing wrong with my liver structure either (remember the blood tests that showed up a problem with my liver functions...)
but you know what, i feel better knowing that they've not found anything that i thought i would...loads better in fact!

after a few issues with my car and even more issues with the garage that i've taken it too, i've decided that it's time to get rid of my little pug and trade up...and i really do mean up!

remember we brits pride ourselves on the british summer (about a week of sunshine and the rest of the time it's grey and cloudy) this year we're suffering a heatwave with temperatures in the last week hitting 30+ on a daily basis
it's sticky and uncomfortable in the office
music: i've discovered a band called hayseed dixie...they're bluegrass/country meets classic rock! it's a VERY interesting mix...they cover AC/DC and Kiss and things like that, and you knkow what, i like it! also been searching for things that other people have suggested, like PP suggesting neverending white lights, i've not had a chance to listen to them, but i've found a track or two that i've downloaded, just not had chance to listen to it yet as i don't have speakers at work...
film:went to see that pirate film with thingy depp and wotsit jordan and KIERA KNIGHTLEY in it the other night...thought it was very good but it felt like an episode, so i'm hoping that the 3rd installment hits the screens PDQ! it felt a little like the 2nd matrix film if i'm honest in so much as it was filler rather than killer. but lets not detract away from the very good fight scenes, especially in the waterwheel. the superb SFX, Bill Nighy was awesome and Davey Jones. and of course it had miss Knightley in it (she's on my list) (actually that might make a good post one day, my 10 celebs that are on my list)
right i'm done for today, i fully intend to do a HNT again next week though...so be warned, and i'm taking requests

i've got to go to the hospital today and i'm getting really quite nervous about it
i know it's not going to be needles and the like (it'd better not be anyway) it's only an ultrasound to have a look inside me and search for gall stones and things like that
part of me is worrying that they'll find what they're looking for and everything will be ok
part of me is worrying that they'll find something else, something bad
part of me is worrying that they'll find nothing at all...this for me is the worst option
i wish i'd slept better
i wish i didn't have to be at work this morning
i'm on the verge of tears to be honest

and i know exactly what's to blame for the sudden change in the weather...see it's been really hot the last few days, i mean 30+ which as you'll all know is hot for the UK
well yesterday i ventured to work wearing *gulp* shorts...yes that's right, i actually subjected people to my bare naked legs and knobbly knees!
and you know what...when i got to work yesterday morning the weather wasn't looking so good, and as i put the key in the door to open up i heard the first crack of thunder. within 15 minutes the true british summer was upon us with big rain clouds and dark skies...all because i was in shorts!
unfortunately it stayed muggy and sticky all day...but without the sun to make things ok, it was just horrible weather.
last night/early this morning i was woke up by the thunder which sounded like it was right above my head...this was about 5am...it went on until just after 7, when i normally get up, so i'm so tired now that it's not fun...but anyway i digress! thunder and lightening this morning was great. today the weather is still grey, but the heat and everything like that has gone with it...today it's bearable!
besides i love a good thunderstorm :)
if it'd been yesterday evening i'd have been out in it walking around and enjoying the cleansing sensation, but at 5 this morning i was just miffed that it'd woken me up and all i wanted to do was sit and watch it running down the window above the bed...i couldn't really do much else as i was naked and too tired to move
anyway, when i get to work this morning i find we'd had a powercut at some point overnight, this normally isn't an issue, but spanish had set up a couple of 3D renders to be done over night, one was due to take about 15 hours, so over night was the best time to set it to go...but he lost the whole thing and is having to re-do it all again this morning. so imagine how pissed off he was when he just set the 3 computers to go on 3 more renders when we lost the power again... it was out for about 2 hours this morning...which wasn't too bad, we just sat around chatting, i read some more of my book and played boxes against spanish (i won quite decisively)
can anyone recommend anything that will help me sleep and stop me snoring? i'm having issues with both at the moment

so i've changed my template finally

so i went to get my blood test results this morning
she said that there was an elevated count for something that's a result of too much fast food and alcohol
although i avoid fast food where possible as i don't like it, i'm not the most healthy of eaters. and as for drinking too much, i tend to average 4 pints a week...not a lot at all...
but on these considerations i'm going to take a couple of months off alcohol and eat better as well. but when i go for my scan i've been told to get them to check the structure of my liver, just to be on the safe side, and then i'm to call the doc and chat again with her about the results of that test and then it'll be more bloods in a few months too...just to make sure.
she also did my blood pressure again, last time it was borderline high, but this time it's all good
so all in all i'm actually pretty good and there isn't anything to worry about if i wasn't being sick, but because i am i've got a couple of other tests to endure then hopefully i'll be all done!
in other news
we won 2 of the 4 rounds last night at the quiz, winning beer and free puddings (both of which will be used tonight...well not the beer for me) we even got a full marks for one round!!

it is now!
that's it, England crash out of the world cup at the hands of big phil scolari again
and to be honest
we didn't deserve to win
rooney needs to sort out his temper
beckham got injured again which isn't cool, and now he's resigned his captaincy...fair enough
the formation was all wrong
when wasn't walcott played? why take him if you're not going to play him? pointless!!!
although well done for playing 60 ish minutes with 10 men and not conceding
i don't think the new manager will do very well
praise to ricardo the goalie at the other end though...saving 3 penalties was awesome!!!

vampire visits
well i went to see the vampire today and it was pretty good
she was very nice to me and instead of sticking me with a big needle and attaching the vacuum tubes to it, she was kind enough to stick me with a mini needle and syringe out some and then bung that in the vac tubes
i did ask what they would be looking at, and i've forgotten, partly because i don't like needles and partly because she went off on one and told me it was like having an MOT...i didn't state the obvious that i'm not a car and my car doesn't have blood...but apparently they are going to be looking at liver and kidney and then a full blood analysis, so cell count and sugar levels and shit like that

it's do or die time tomorrow for the english boys in germany...fingers crossed that they'll pick up their game...they'd beter pick things up otherwise that'll be 3 major tournaments that big phil has put us out of
don't you think it's funny just how patriotic we become for our sports teams, i mean there are george cross' everywhere at the moment, but on st george's day...hardly anything!
i've not been sink in nearly a week, although i did have an upset stomach the other day, but i wasn't sick...if you catch my drift!
the weekend is looking like a good one to just sit and chill out, weather is looking good and there's footie on!
song for the weekend...well it's getting summery over here now so i guess i should hunt out something nice and light. spoilt for choice, i'm liking i wish by skee-lo, summertime by fresh prince and good enough by dodgy all are corkingly good summer tunes. personal fav has got to be skee-lo though...not that i wish i were any taller, i'm big enough as it is (linny no dodgy comments please, we all know you need to get laid so get your mind out of the gutter!)

vampire visit
i've got to to go and see the vampire under doctors orders (by vampire i mean phlebotomist, but the inferrence is the same) i'm to have some blood tests and stuff like that. meanwhile i'm back on the dom peridone (anti emetics) but none of the other tablets which is ok, but all they are doing is stopping me from being sick and not actually treating the cause...
also having some kind of scan done at some point...sounds like fun...think it's an ultra sound scan, so all easy stuff there (still looking like i could be pregnant though what with the throwing up in the morning, i had swollen ankles for a while [but that was sunburn] and now an ultra sound)
i don't like needles
i know that sounds weird considering i've had 11 piercings and 10 tattoos and they are all needles
but i'm just not a needles fan medically
still i'll be alright when it comes to the bloods, nervous, but alright
and i've had an ultra sound before back when i first got my ibs diagnosed, then it was to look for my appendix. this time round though they're looking for gall stones, even though the doc thinks i'm too young for them...
so far it's been:
some virus thing...nah
excess stomach acid...nah
now it's gall stones...nah
what next? stomach ulcer? worse?
i'm not thinking about the worse thing's it could be, i'm thinking it's just me being sick
and now i'm sick of being sick
if i could just stop it, i would...wouldn't that be great? just being able to stop being ill. like a switch kinda thing inside your head that controls it all...
anyway
i'm sure it'll clear up in the end, just hope i'm not sick again...

don't be mad
it's boring at work today
and i'm still not feeling great
i can't be bothered at the moment
it's been suggested that i run away
place mentioned was france, but my french is rusty at best
have the fear at the moment
will let you in on it if your PROMISE not to get angry or take the moral high ground or anything like that
have the fear because i was tempted to cut myself again
for the first time in 2 years i wanted to do it
but i didn't
please don't sit there thinking bad things about me
i'm trying to deal with a lot of things at the moment
all of which are small and insignificant
but piled together are not cool
the sum of the whole is greater that the sum of the individual parts and all that kinda thing
i know there are people out there worse off than me
i know that i've got it good at the moment
but there are so many little things that are causing me stress
they say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do
i'm already stressed and i'm not moving for like 7 weeks
reasons for stress:
too many jobs
not enough money (hence the 3 jobs)
no free time
being sick
moving house
my parents impending divorce
and subsequent issues like selling a house, helping mum get a new one, moving her...other settlement related issues
my IBS (which hasn't properly flared up yet, but it's only a matter of time)
my car (which although is ok at the moment, needs an MOT and tax disc soon)
not enough sleep (which leads to me getting more stressed which leads to even less sleep)
my proper job...well documented fact that i don't really enjoy it
general feeling of not belonging
fear that i'm going to cut myself again
lots of little things that combined make a big ugly monster
i want to go home
i want to go to sleep
i want to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and with out any of the above hassles
i wish i could

there's something wrong with me
yesterday afternoon i was sick again and got sent home from work, as a result i didn't do the quiz last night
today i feel sick still
it's been suggested that i change my diet

Stuff
lots of stuff that i want to talk about at the moment all a bit disjointed though, so be warned
house stuff:
mild concern that we're not going to afford the place along with a few other minor concerns like how well will we get on when we're living together etc etc etc...all of which i'm sure are nonsense and will be fine.
tenancy agreement has been drawn up, but i've not had chance to read it yet, should be ok though, and as long as they sort out a few things for us before we move (like the aussie heating system...it's off in the winter and on in the summer) then it'll all be good
comfort zone stuff:
now i'm all for exploring your comfort zones and all that, but pushing things too far too quickly is not cool. last week i did the quiz, and i was ok with it, even though i was very nervous before starting, this week i'm worse than i was last week. if my comfort zone were to be represented by a single sheet of a4 paper sitting on my desk here at work, then doing the quiz not only puts me off the paper, but i'm off the desk and out the office. i can't explain it, i'm just not happy doing it and although i settle into it while i'm there, i just don't want to do it. i need the money, but do i need the money that much? i don't think i do
sleep stuff:
i'm not sleeping very well
by that i mean i'm lucky if i'm getting 4 or 5 hours a night
last night i went to bed before 11, i didn't get to sleep until after 12 and was awake before 6 and i woke up several times in the night too
it's bugging me out
and probably not helping with the comfort zone stuff either
work stuff:
don't you hate it when you know you've got things to do...but you can't do them because someone else is holding up the chain?
at the moment i've got 2 quotes open, one is waiting for some steel prices, the other is for gas regulators...the trouble is we have no idea which regulators they are, where they came from or anything...which is really unhelpful
the pub work is fine though and the dj/quiz host has been mentioned before as being uncomfortable

i've been a bit crap again in keeping in touch with people and i'm sorry, there has been a lot going on, nothing interesting, but enough to keep my mind overly pre-occupied with stuff. but then i guess it's a two way thing and i can't take all the blame can i!

remember me talking before about n-game? well i found a version that can be downloaded...this is very cool, but it has meant that there has been an added distraction to my work load (such as it is) also been playing a variety of online games. Desperately trying to find someone to play dots and boxes with though

in the last couple of weeks i've had some random creatures run out in front of my car, i've not hit any of them (i'm a good driver contrary to popular belief)

more sleep stuff:
why is it that when you sleep with a woman (as in actually sleep, not sex) they take up so much of the bed? i'm referring to an ex from a while ago who used to sleep with her head as far across the bed away from me as possible, but her backside was almost pushing me out of bed...no mater what size of bed we were in she's sleep like this. on top of it she'd expect to be cuddled until she fell asleep, by which point she'd usually manipulated me into an uncomfortable position from which if i moved i'd wake her up, thus unleashing her wrath in all it's glory because i'd woken her up! i was going to post some pics with this, but for some reason, blogger isn't letting me today!

now i'm all for exploring your comfort zones and all that, but pushing things too far too quickly is not cool. last week i did the quiz, and i was ok with it, even though i was very nervous before starting, this week i'm worse than i was last week. if my comfort zone were to be represented by a single sheet of a4 paper sitting on my desk here at work, then doing the quiz not only puts me off the paper, but i'm off the desk and out the office. i can't explain it, i'm just not happy doing it and although i settle into it while i'm there, i just don't want to do it. i need the money, but do i need the money that much? i don't think i do
sleep stuff:
i'm not sleeping very well
by that i mean i'm lucky if i'm getting 4 or 5 hours a night
last night i went to bed before 11, i didn't get to sleep until after 12 and was awake before 6 and i woke up several times in the night too
it's bugging me out
and probably not helping with the comfort zone stuff either
work stuff:
don't you hate it when you know you've got things to do...but you can't do them because someone else is holding up the chain?
at the moment i've got 2 quotes open, one is waiting for some steel prices, the other is for gas regulators...the trouble is we have no idea which regulators they are, where they came from or anything...which is really unhelpful
the pub work is fine though and the dj/quiz host has been mentioned before as being uncomfortable
people stuff:
i've been a bit crap again in keeping in touch with people and i'm sorry, there has been a lot going on, nothing interesting, but enough to keep my mind overly pre-occupied with stuff. but then i guess it's a two way thing and i can't take all the blame can i!
game stuff:
remember me talking before about n-game? well i found a version that can be downloaded...this is very cool, but it has meant that there has been an added distraction to my work load (such as it is) also been playing a variety of online games. Desperately trying to find someone to play dots and boxes with though

did you know the daggett in the original series of battlestar galactica was played by a chimpanzee called eve? a daggetts are the BSG name for dogs this robo-daggett was called muffy...
apparently it was rather off putting to hear the chimp noises during a take, even though she was better at hitting her marks that half the cast!!!

animal stuff:
in the last couple of weeks i've had some random creatures run out in front of my car, i've not hit any of them (i'm a good driver contrary to popular belief)

a magpie
and a mole...a proper little black mole, i wasn't sure what it was to start with, it looked like something rolling across the road, but it had direction. moles are supposed to live underground, not practise jay-walking on busy roads
more sleep stuff:
why is it that when you sleep with a woman (as in actually sleep, not sex) they take up so much of the bed? i'm referring to an ex from a while ago who used to sleep with her head as far across the bed away from me as possible, but her backside was almost pushing me out of bed...no mater what size of bed we were in she's sleep like this. on top of it she'd expect to be cuddled until she fell asleep, by which point she'd usually manipulated me into an uncomfortable position from which if i moved i'd wake her up, thus unleashing her wrath in all it's glory because i'd woken her up! i was going to post some pics with this, but for some reason, blogger isn't letting me today!

I didn't get tagged, but wanted to do it anyway
6 weird things about me
i can't remember if i've done this or not, but if i have i'll do it again because i'm sure there's more than just 6 weird things about me...
1. at the age of 27 i'm still a big wrestling fan, i don't know what it is about it, but i think now that i'm older i can appreciate the skill that these "atheletes" have not to hurt each other seriously (if at all)
2. i bite the nails on my right hand, although i use scissors or nail clippers on my left hand, i know it's because i'm right handed and can't cut them on my right hand with the scissors, but i could do it with the clippers
3. i can talk to anyone when i'm behind the bar in the pub where i work, but put me the other side of the bar and i'm not keen on talking to anyone
4. i've been know to fall asleep in the bath, with or without water in there. if there is water in there i usually put my book down in my sleep (not in the water though)
5. i cut my own hair, i know it's not weird, but sometimes you should see what i end up with, as i usually miss a little bit and then refuse to trim it until the next time i cut my hair
6. when ever i sit down to eat a meal, especially sunday roast, i have to get up and go to the loo within 5 minutes of starting to eat
apparently i'm supposed to tag 6 people, but i'm only going to tag 3, woja, PP and akanksha, anyone else is welcome to do it if they want

i did it
as you know i go to the pub every monday and take part in the quiz, well last night i went to a different pub and hosted the quiz...
it was my first attempt at it and i was seriously nervous, so nervous that i nearly called and cancelled it in the afternoon, but after talking to someone very special who calmed me down loads even though they weren't that helpful...i got there and i did it!
it went ok, it wasn't brilliant, but it was only my first time and no-one's good at anything on the first attempt...but i've done it now so i'm hoping that next week i'll be calmer and that'll be better then...i hope
anyway i was going to try and post a HNT from the files, but i can't find the email that had the link in it...which is a pain in the arse...which funnily enough was the pic i was going to post...i'll keep searching and it i find it i'll post again...but don't hold your breath people
i've got a headache this morning
i'm feeling better so i've cancelled my appointment with the doc
i'm peeling from last week's venture to the beach when i got burnt, although my ankles have now returned to their original size...
i'm on my 3rd disc of the original battlestar galactica series, it's amazing how many things you can pick up on, things that as a kid were lost on me but now are obvious symbolic representations...or something like that
after BG i've the series 2 of the 4400 to watch, the original series of this really gripped me and i'm surprised that it's not been shown on normal tv in the uk (it's only available on satellite at the moment and my folks got rid ot the satellite a few years ago because i was the only one watching it)
moving date has been set at august 14th...so i'm hoping that we can be in and settled within a week from that date...but we shall see!
i'm so very tired and i'm working in the pub again tonight
comment moderation issue...as raised by rawbean and seconded by akanksha...
i'll see about removing it soon...but if the crazy lady re-appears, so will the moderation. she did promise that she'd never read it again, but that was in september, and she was back in january this year, which prompted the introduction of the moderation!
so no moderation, but word verification will be back instead...how's that?

singing the blues
ok, so it's a mere technicallity that i'm not actually singing the blues
but wasn't the weekend's football shocking? i mean england were gifted a goal in under 3 minutes...an own goal no less... then the goalie is taken off injured and we still couldn't stick one in. and the second half was bad...they coasted!

after that wanker leaving he's stopped paying for the internet access, which is fine as i have my own access anyway, but the numbnuts in cancelling the main access has cancelled the broadband link to the house...greatso for the next 3 weeks i'm without access at home, but that's fine, i can still blog and that from work...so it's not a major issue, just really irritating!
the weather
i wish it would just decide what it's going to do, this morning it's rained a couple of times, but outside at the moment it's bone dry and baking in the sunshine...it's too hot for my liking, but then i got proper burnt last week when i took the day off to go to the beach...and yes it was my own fault, i should've put the sun cream on earlier than i did (i only went about 20 minutes without any on...but i forgot to do my feet and ankles so i crispy fried them and they were all swollen and sore and they're still not looking too healthy!

bbq at the weekend was cool, minor confusion relating to me babysitting and one of the guys there though said little one was mine, she's not, quite blatently not as she is part asian and i'm as white as they come (although iguess seeing as her mum wasn't there said mum could be asian and therefore it would match out...but she's not though...bless litlun had a bit of a tantrum (in an i'm hot and tired kinda way) and proceeded to snot all over me before falling asleep and giving me a cuddle. but it was a nice evening
i've been watching battlestar galactica, the original 70's series with face from the a-team in...truly a classic. got the delights of the 2004 series to follow it although i'm thinking it might not be as good, we shall see.
then after BG i've got series 2 of the 4400, i really enjoyed series 1, even though there were only about 5 episodes...weird so i'm looking forward to seeing how they developed the characters and sub plots and everything in to it
also i've got the ultimate ric flair dvd to watch at somepoint although i'm thinking about leaving the wrestling for a little while and concentrating on the other things first
little dissappointed to have sideshow note that there's nothing much being posted these days on the office blog, might get rid of it at somepoint, unless someone is willing to start posting on there...i know half of his working day is spent like mine online...so maybe he'll read this and do something...but i doubt it
it's also made me look at the other blogs i've got...PP are you going to post anything on our one, or shall we just rid ourselves of it? it seems a bit of a waste really, but neither of us has posted there since january, if not longer!
as for the storyboards...i've got a few ideas swimming around to post there at some point, but they need developing, so i'm keeping that one at least for now...
oh yeah...with the lack of being able to connect at home i'll maybe not be posting anything for HNT for a while, we shall see...i think i've got a few on various sites that i could use in the time being as a filler, but i don't want to be uploading to the works computer really...

post appraisal post
ok
so my appraisal was on friday and it's now monday, but i'm still telling you what was said
fyi these things are supposed to be P&C so i'm not giving out details, it's just going to be a brief overview of what was said and how i felt it went

well there was a lot of positive feedback, although there was a question about my motivational issues, i cleared that up by stating that i only seem to get the smaller quotes and thus i am bored. it was also mentioned that my MD thinks i have a high intellectual capacity, so i'm guessing he thinks i'm cleverer than i let on...which may well be the case
there was only one issue that wasn't so good, but after clarification it's been turned into a positive.
in the future i'm going to be doing more H&S related things for the company, but someone somewhere has got to give me the stuff first (this is assuming that there is a company policy and procedures relating to H&S) and maybe next year i'll be put on a course as well...we shall see though
all in all though i found it to be a good meeting...and i didn't talk about pay, i don't like discussing pay during appraisals, an appraisal is about my abilities and my performance, not about the money i am on and the money i think i should be on...that topic is yet to be broached with the boss, although i'm past due a pay review.
in other news,
i'm still working on my 100 things...on number 33 at the moment...
weekend was good, nice weather and england won 6-0 against jamaica...but then that wasn't difficult...even with peter crouch missing a penalty (what a dumbass, even i could've scored then...and with my left foot!)
at the moment i'm doing a LOT of filing, no idea if there are any quotes that need to be looked at, if there are i've not been told or given them, so i'm mixing my time between cyberslacking (blogging) and sorting these files out
i'm hungry, but i can't eat anything for a while...stupid tablets!

friday fun, the car aftermath and other things
friday is always fun day at the office, but today is a little different, today i have my first annual appraisal...which is going to be crap as i have no targets or anything like that to be appraised against, so i'm anticipating a short appraisal involving targets for the next year (should i still be here) and a brief review of this year...we shall see
after that it's pub time though...for lunch...but alas i'm not allowed to drink. you remember me being ill ast week and having 2 days off for it...the whole vomiting in the morning thing, just after breakfast...well i took my meds for the entire course, however, 2 days after the course finished i was sick again, at the same time as i had been before. this time when i went to the doc i saw a nice lady that i've been to before and i taught her kids to swim too. so she was very nice and chatted everything through with me, she thinks i'm producing too much stomach acid during the night prompting me to be sick in the morning when i eat something. now i'm on the anti-chunder tablets that i was on last week and now some more things that should stop me producing as much acid as well...we shall see, but i wasn't sick this morning, so that's a start i guess.
i've finally got my car back after over 2 weeks of having it in the garage and i'm acting as a go between for the garage that did the work and the garage that i got the car from. which is crap! at the moment i've got my car back, i've not got anything to pay with regards to the work done because it should all be covered under the warranty, however there is an issue with it somewhere along the line which is giving me strife still...someone needs to authorise something and someone else needs to pay someone for the work...but not me. so my question is why am i still being involved? it's wrong...just wrong

i liked it, but there were still a few too many loose ends for my liking, but i think too many of the main characters died for them to make a decent sequel...however i've heard rumblings of a wolverine film, which could be fairly interesting
still waiting to see the davinci code. also saw a trailer for ghostrider...looks AWESOME and i really can't wait for that

it's true
i am alive
i've been suffering from a bout of suspected man-flu the last few days thus i've had a couple of days off sick (yesterday and today). i say suspected man-flu because it started out as a cold, cold's are a pain, but you can live with them, then it turned into man-flu. but now it appears to have become something slightly more sinister, the last two mornings i've woken up feeling fine, only to have breakfast and promptly vomit it all back up...it's been pink too, but that's due to the casing on the tablets i took minutes before chundering being red!
so i'm ill
i went to see the doctor this morning and he's given me 2 lots of tablets to take (i'm not good with tablets) one before a meal, one after...genius...apparently the one before the meals should clear up the cold, the one after should clear up the vomiting

i feel the need to do a very brief review of the car's i've been driving in leiu of my actual car. last week i had a VW golf...go google search it if you're not sure what it is...it was fucking awesome, it was a nice car to drive, plenty of room inside, and a decent (responsive) engine. it was a pleasure to drive it...even if i had to hire it and it cost me £200+ for the week
currently i've got a courtesy car...so i'm not paying for this one...and trust me i wouldn't pay for it anyway! i'm driving around in a peugeot 1007...yes that's a 1007 not a 107...this thing looks like a van...with windows...and shorter...it's got an automatic gearbox (in the UK stick-shift is the main way to drive) which means that unless i jam the accelerator down hard and over rev the engine i get a sudden loss in power when the car changes gear, usually half way round a roundabout...not cool! it's got a redeeming feature though...slidy doors...which you can open from about 10m away from the car...although this isn't that useful, i'm told it's cool!!!
as for my pug...it's probably better not to ask!

things have been a little awkward. mum's been to see the solicitor, long story short, if that wanker wants to come round agian he's to make an appointment and pre arrange the items which he wants to pick up. there was an episode at the weekend while i was out when he turned up and bullied mum, thus stressing her and me out.
on a lighter note one of the locals has offered to do a number on him for £50, so i'm thinking i might start up a fund for that purpose...lol

so i went to see blue man group on saturday (where i was when the above happened) and it was fucking awesome
i've got to say that
it was out of this world, i laughed all the way through, it's very much an audience participation show. it's funny. it's musical. it's awesome
i loved it!!!
go see them whenever and wherever you can!
just do it dammit...i don't endorse many things!

HNT anniversary!
HNT is a year old tomorrow so i thought i'd play today, but only half playing. Os wants our first HNT and a new one, well i've had to plump with the old one only...few other issues the last week or so, as regular readers will know. (previous post)
so here it is...my very first HNT (click the link i'm feeling lazy, sorry)

Extremely important advice and recommendations to be passed on to wives, girlfriends, fiancés, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. (to all women in general).
These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July this year...
LIST OF RULES
1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.
2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).
3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.
4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it wont happen.
5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.
6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.
7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".
8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.
9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:a) I will not go,b) I will not go, andc) I will not go.
10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.
11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this... why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".
12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.

In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".
8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.
9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:a) I will not go,b) I will not go, andc) I will not go.

the shitty weekend
ok so there has been a little concern about me and my weekend, i know ash said i should get out and have a drink, but it's not that easy this time.
so friday my dad decided to admit that he's been having an affair for the last 18 months, thus ripping the heart out of my family
saturday i was still in shock about it all and not really sure what was going on
sunday my car broke down...proper broke down, so bad that i've got a hire car for the next week while the stupid people at the gay garage make vague tutting noises and try to fleece me for all that they can again...wankers haven't got a courtesy car for me until 10 days, so i'm driving around in a brand new golf 1.6...it's very nice to drive, but it's cost £200 to get it
monday...back to work, but in no way shape or form was my head into it
this morning...i lost my wallet, it's just been found, but it's not helped the demeanor of the morning
so far i've been really good (or bad depending on how you look at it) in so far as i've not hit anything/one, i've not cried, i've not cut myself and generally i've tried bumbling along and all that. but i can feel it getting to me and i know that sooner or later i''m going to have to cry and let it all out. but i'm trying to hold it all together, for my mum primarily, but also for the need that i jst can't let myself go. and above all he's not worth it.
from now on my ex father will either be referred to as that wanker or nothing.
that wanker came round yesterday while i was at work badgering mum a little, but he did live up to his promise of giving me £5000. doesn't mean he's not a wanker though, just means that i've got £5000 of his money.

so i replied
thanks for all your comments on the last post, i know it was a bit of a mission reading it all, so thanks for stucking with it, it meant quite a bit to know that even though i've not been nekkid for you guys for a few weeks now and i've not even posted something vaguely interesting that you guys are still out there and reading on occasion.
i was thinking about what i could put in this post, and i've been struggling, i want to be positive and bubbly and all that stuff, but recently i've been feeling physically ill and emotionally drained, so being positive is kinda hard at the moment.
people have been asking what's wrong, and i wish i could help them out and give them a decent answer, but there is no one defining thing that's wrong, there's not ten things, hell there's not one hundred things wrong...there's so many things that just feel wrong at the moment i wouldn't know where to start
so i'm struggling with positive
however i am carrying on and putting a brave face on things, i don't want my nearest and dearest at home realising that i'm not overly joyous at the moment because i fear that it will make things worse...they worry enough as it is.
it's my dad's birthday party on sunday, i think i remember mentioning it once or twice before on the basis that i'm not looking forward to it and that i think it will be either a complete balls up or i'll jst end up sitting at the bar while everyone has a go at everyone else and their dog in the pub where i work. i'm tempted to just sit there and watch it all fall apart as both me and my mum know will happen. tragic i know, but sadly it's true.
anyway it's friday night here and i'm currently blogging! that tells you quite a bit about my current social life...i guess i could go out to the pub, but i'm not really in the mood for it at the moment, i'm fairly tired too, so i might just hit the sack and hope that everything will pass me by for a day or two.
work wise, things are a bit crap at the moment, although i'm not getting all the shitty quotes i am still getting all the crap, we missed a deadline today, something needed to be with the client by 2pm, the people in germany told us it would be another 2-3 weeks before they can complete the special articles that are required in the specification, needless to say the sales manager was less than impressed and initially took this out on me, however when i pointed out that it was germany and not me that was holding things up, she calmed down and realised that it wasn't my fault and things were ok then...well as ok as things can be when you're watching a €200k quote disappear down the shitter. still i got her other quote done this morning and posted today (i hope, i left before the post went) that's for €85k which should soften the blow a little (she thought that was expensive for 8 fume cupboards, but i reminded her that they were all special because of the additional €3k for each FC to have a steel liner rather than a stardard liner).
on the job hunt, i got cold called yesterday by a recruitment firm who wanted to put me forward for a position, the ugy guaranteed i'd hear from him within 24 hours, but it's been more than that and i've not heard anything from him, so now i don't care about that position very much. also got told that an interview i had that i was one of four candidates, so a good chance of getting the position, but i didn't like the centre or the manager there so i'll not be looking too hard at that one either, however if they offer me the position i'll consider it for a little while, it's all about the monetary motivation now...
starting to lose interest in a lot of things at the moment
so really i guess that's as good a point as any to sign off, go check the comments from the last post as i replied to you all...

2 posts in 3 weeks???
damn i've been slack
but there were reasons
- initially i was feeling under the weather and as a result didn't have much to blog about
- issues with blogging
- lack of inspiration
- week off work
anyway i think i'm pretty much back to normal at the moment, things seem to have settled down a little, well i've settled down a little, however, i'm still more than a little miffed with work and my job, but as has been documented, i'm searching for a new one. more in a bit
ok so after being ill for a while, nasty cough and head cold thing that's been going around, i decided that i was having issues with blogging, mainly due to lack of inspiration, too much going on that i didn't really feel the need to share and other things. i've still got the cough though :o(
on the day when i stopped HNT (2 posts ago) i also put my wheels in for it's regular service (can't believe i've done over 12000 miles since july!). thinking it would be fairly in expensive, i was shocked and stunned and many other things when i got a call half way through the day to tell me it'd be a little under £850, and that only covered the essential things that NEEDED doing!!! i could've doubled that by getting them to do everything...so there went my salary for the month! i was none too impressed, to say the least, but it needed doing
easter was pretty crap, with my parents arguing over lunch, thankfully we don't seem to go in for the big family lunch thing very often. although i got one easter egg, which i ate the next day. Also saw my friend Kat for the first time in a LONG time, i used to baby sit for her...it's funny!
the following week i was supposed to be having a chat to my boss about things work related, but even though he asked for the meeting, he forgot it, because he's got a memory like a sieve... that made me feel like a valued member of the team! so on wednesday i decided to book the next week (last week) off, to give myself some time to re-assess things...i've been re-assessing a lot of things recently i know...anyway the remains of the week proceeded to piss me off more so i spent some time each day looking for a new job. i think i sent out my CV 20 odd times!
so the week off...
monday, i went to the cinema with Kat, and the quiz in the evening, she joined me and the bar staff, we still didn't win, but we had a good time. even if one of the other teams mistakenly identified Kat as my new girlfriend who i was flaunting in the pub while my ex was behind the bar...i must re-iterate, Kat is a friend from way back and lovely as she is, she's not my girlfriend and unlikely to ever be...
tuesday, i took kat back to uni, comedy ensued in the local news agents in which we implied that i liked it when she hit me, but only when she's naked...needless to say we got some interesting looks from the other patrons... in the evening i went to see the lady (aforementioned ex) and we sat and watched night watch, a totally brilliant russian film which i recommend to anyone who liked things like the matrix, underworld and that kind of thing...
wednesday, i caught up with the old flame, she came down to oxford for a few hours and we chatted and all that, it was cool to see her again, and although she'll disagree, i don't think she's changed that much in the 7 years since i last saw her. but it was great to see her and i'd like to see again sometime...
thursday, i had an interview, first round one only, but it seemed to go really well, i'm not going to get my hopes up about it though as i don't want to be thinking about it too much if i don't get a call back for it. thursday night i worked in the pub, i enjoy that more than working here so i didn't feel like i needed to take the time off from there...
friday, i did nothing, nothing at all
Myspace...some of you know i had a myspace thing...note had. during the week i was trying to sort out all the settings and stuff on it, but everytime i logged in and went to do something it told me i had to be logged in to do it, so i logged in again...and the circle continued for over an hour until i found the only link i could get at was the cancel me link, so i did after much frustration and trying to work out if i wanted to cancel it, i guess i'd just had enough. so sadly my myspace no longer exists
sorry for worrying you K8, but thanks for the call to check up on me ;o)

last night i guest hosted the music round at the quiz, it went down a storm with most teams getting 26 or more from 30, i would give you the track listing, but i can't remember it all. DJ dave that runs the quiz has been using it in other pubs though and they've all liked it too, so much so that i might sort out another one for him at some point, we'll see
right, i think that's more than enough, one last ting is that i'm apologising, having a week off i've not really kept up to date with everyone's blogs, i've tried, and commented on some posts, but not on everyone's.
